Phase 2: Implementation & Migration
Data Migration
Taking data from one
system and moving it to another is not
always simple. Data maps need to be
generated and tools need to be used to
move the data into the new system based
on these maps. This is a time-consuming
and critical step to your database
setup.
System Testing
Once the structure is developed and the
data is migrated, testing must be done
to make sure the system is working as
expected. We can assist in this process
and help manage any needed changes.
Development of Training Program
A large part of the implementation of a
database is user training and rollout.
Communications need to be timed
appropriately; policies & procedures
need to be finalized; user selection
needs to be completed. Are you training
every employee or just certain roles or
departments? Where are the trainings
taking place? Who is
going to conduct the training? Will you
have local “experts” on the system to
help in the rollout? These decisions
and many more need to be made to have a
successful training program developed.
Documentation
Many decisions have been made up to this
point – have they been documented
properly? Before you can train any end
users, you need to generate a user
manual. Besides the user manual, have
you put together any “how-to” documents
for quick user reference on using the
system? From user manuals to policy and
procedure
changes/additions, you need to document
everything about your database system.
